Logo for Sustainable Finance Week, abbreviated SFWAttend the fifth annual SASB Symposium on November 30 and December 1, 2020, a premiere forum to discuss the future of sustainability disclosure for the capital markets. This year, the Symposium will be held as a dynamic virtual convening consisting of a half-day live program, interactive workshops, and an on-demand content library. Via this virtual symposium, we hope to bring together even more market participants from across the globe with unique and varied perspectives on sustainability disclosure.

Conversations around the financial materiality of sustainability information and its relevance to the capital markets are taking place across the globe. The SASB Symposium is an intellectual forum where stakeholders – and skeptics – can debate and discuss evolving thinking around sustainability disclosure. Join companies, institutional investors (both asset owners and asset managers), and advisors to discuss how material sustainability factors impact value, how to use sustainability information to inform corporate strategies and investor decision-making, and how a unified comprehensive system for corporate disclosure can come to fruition.

2020 SASB Symposium Agenda


At the virtual SASB Symposium, join us for:

  • Half-day live program: During this half day live session, international speakers will discuss significant progress towards a unified global system for sustainability disclosure and a vision for the future.

  • Workshops: Three interactive workshops (one on the changing regulatory landscape, one on corporate implementation, and a corporate-investor dialogue) will feature presentations by guest speakers and smaller group breakout sessions. (Each workshop limited to the first 125 attendees)

  • Standard-Setting Deep Dive: These sessions will provide an overview of SASB’s standard-setting process and opportunities to provide feedback as the standards evolve, as well as answer audience questions.

  • On-demand content: The content library will feature digestible, engaging interviews with and presentations by experts in the field on topics including corporate implementation, investor use of ESG data, new research in the field, and SASB’s standard-setting projects. The content library will be available through the month of December.

Laurence D. Fink is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BlackRock, Inc. He and seven partners founded BlackRock in 1988, and under his leadership, the firm has grown into a global leader in investment and technology solutions to help investors build better financial futures. Today, BlackRock is trusted to manage more money than any other investment firm in the world. Mr. Fink has been named one of the “World’s Greatest Leaders” by Fortune, and Barron’s has named him one of the “World’s Best CEOs” for 14 consecutive years.

Prior to founding BlackRock in 1988, Mr. Fink was a member of the Management Committee and a Managing Director of The First Boston Corporation.

He serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of New York University (NYU) and the World Economic Forum, and is Co-Chairman of the NYU Langone Medical Center Board of Trustees. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Museum of Modern Art and the Council on Foreign Relations. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management in Beijing and on the Executive Committee of the Partnership for New York City. Mr. Fink earned an MBA with a concentration in real estate from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1976 and a BA in political science from UCLA in 1974.

Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)

Janine Guillot is the Chief Executive Officer at SASB. As CEO, Ms. Guillot is a member of the SASB Foundation Board and is responsible for setting the overall enterprise strategy and the oversight of all staff, programs, and activities of SASB to achieve its mission and objectives. She is responsible for leading the pursuit of global business development opportunities, facilitating global adoption of the SASB standards, and maintaining collaborative relationships across the sustainability disclosure field.  

Prior to joining SASB, Ms. Guillot had more than 25 years of experience in operating, strategy, risk management and finance roles in financial services. She served as Chief Operating Investment Officer for the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) and held senior leadership positions at Barclays Global Investors, Bank of America, and Incapture LP. At Barclays Global Investors, she served as Chief Operating Officer for BGI’s European and Global Fixed Income businesses. She began her career in public accounting.

Ms. Guillot holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Southern Methodist University. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Marin Agricultural Land Trust and Equilibrium Capital. She serves on the Senior Advisory Board at the Center for Responsible Business at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and on the Advisory Board of Blockchain Coinvestors. She is a former member of the FDIC’s Systemic Resolution Advisory Committee.

Moynihan leads the company’s Global Diversity and Inclusion Council and is a member of the museum council for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. Moynihan is also a member of the Brown University Corporation’s Board of Fellows and the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Board.
